Born and raised in Southern California, in 1970, Jen Beaudet (Zondervan) has always been largely influenced by the beauty that surrounds her. She's been selling art online since 2009. With a great love of nature, and the beauty in simple things, her art reflects her emotions and expresses her feelings about the subject. Jen's art has been described as romantic, bold, and expressive because of the beautiful colors and bold brushstrokes she uses. She paints mostly florals, along with wineries in California, Southern California scenes, and some of her most popular...women in beautiful gowns. Jen expresses her emotions in her paintings and uses the practice as therapy. She makes it her goal, as an artist, to bring beauty to the homes of her collectors.
Jen is primarily a self-taught artist, although she did earn a degree in Studio Art from El Camino College in Southern California. She put her dreams on hold to raise her beautiful daughter, as a single mother. In 2007 she read an inspirational article in Victoria magazine about artists starting to sell their art online. She opened her etsy shop and immediately gained popularity there. This blog started as "My Life of A Starving Artist" BeaudetArt.Blogspot.com but she changed it by persuasion of her readers.
Artist Statement
"I knew as soon as I could put some time into my art career that I needed to pursue my life long passion as an artist. I started painting with oils in 2009, when I was given a set of oil paints that my mother didn’t want anymore. I fell in love with the rich and juicy colors that only oils can offer. Oil paint's luster and buttery texture keep me exploring and creating new pieces while discovering myself along the way.
I use both a brush, palette knife, and sometime even my fingers to get the paint down to achieve the look I’m trying to achieve. These tools create the beautiful nuances I’m drawn to. I want each piece to possess harmony and excitement like a beautifully composed piece of music. Every work needs the right balance that will make it come alive to the viewer. I love painting flowers and find endless inspiration in their blooms! Most of my work involves flowers in some way, from local California landscapes, to wedding inspired women in beautiful gowns, to blooming Jacaranda trees. Each piece possesses a little bit my soul, and I like to leave the final interpretation up to the viewer, so that they can develop their own personal connection to it. Some mystery is always a good thing, right? "
